Mayor-elect Ed Murray today released the following statement of support for the families and victims of Typhoon Haiyan
“Our hearts ache as we continue to see images of the extent of the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Our thoughts, prayers and support are with all of those affected by the disaster, especially the nearly 100,000 grieving Filipino-Americans in Seattle and across the state of Washington.
“I encourage our neighbors to contribute to aid organizations providing humanitarian relief for the many individuals and families rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of this destruction.
“Mayor McGinn’s office has pulled together a very useful typhoon recovery website, including a tool to help locate missing family members and a list of relief organizations. I want to thank him for providing this important resource, which can be found here: http://www.seattle.gov/html/citizen/yolandarelief.htm, and encourage those interested in making a contribution to the recovery effort to check it out.”
